The world is changing, and it is not changing for the better. In our world today, people are more likely to take action against you over a simple disagreement then stop and talk about a situation. Gone are the days of slugging it out and grabbing a beer. Today, we have an insult and gunfire. With this new reality we are forced to deal with active threat response training as a skill to learn.
Watch your comments
In the heat of the moment a comment will fly. What we think is totally innocent another person will consider an active threat against them either physically, emotionally or to their honor. The best way to avoid these situations is to just stop and think before you say anything, especially in those situations where people are gunning for you to start something.
Stick to your own areas and don’t venture out
Now, what I mean by this is not to go looking for trouble. In our lives we tend to have our own little circles of places to go – work, home, restaurants, school, etc. When we have our little circle of places to go these become ours. To avoid conflict, try not to venture off into areas that you are not really sure or aware of. This doesn’t mean that you can’t try different things. In fact, you should always try new and better things. Just really be careful not to step on other people’s toes. This can cause conflicts.
Learn to protect yourself
Guns are never the answer. If you have to carry a gun or pull out a gun, then you are just looking to get yourself into trouble. When we take the time to learn and protect ourselves in different ways, we are looking for different outcomes. Learn martial arts, basic fighting and communication skills.
If we are going to ever have a chance of stopping violence and bloodshed, we need to really stop and take the first steps ourselves. If we can set a good example and other solution, then others will follow and things will change.
